At 5 Ferrier Street in Leith, a local ropespinner named William Wishart and his wife Jessie Dickson Smith become parents to the first of two sons, and name him after his father. Tragically young William would die several months later during an operation at the Sick Children’s Hospital. The family form part of tree WIS0060.

New Zealand

At Winton, a twenty-year-old farmer from Royal Bush named David Blyth Wishart enlists in the military. David would see overseas service in France during 1918 and was wounded in action in the last stages of the war whilst serving with the 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade. He would recover from his injuries and after marrying Margaret Jane Hamilton he went on to become a father to four daughters. David continued working as a farmer and died in 1975. He is part of tree WIS0002.
