George Wishart enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps during 1915 as a ‘supply special’ which meant he could have served as a baker, butcher, clerk etc. He first saw overseas service at Gallipoli in November 1915 after which he was transferred into the 28th Labour Company, Labour Corps and sent to Salonika.
On 7 September 1916, George was admitted to No.28 General Hospital suffering from ‘debility’ and eventually evacuated back to the UK on the hospital ship, Llandovery Castle.
