David Wishart enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps, perhaps shortly after the war began in August 1914, as a ‘supply special’ which meant he could have served as a baker, butcher, clerk etc.
He arrived in France on 26 June 1915 and at some point in the war was transferred into the Royal Marine Labour Corps. The RMLC was established in 1917 and took volunteers over the age of 41 as well as men deemed unfit to serve at the front. They primarily oversaw the distribution of war materials arriving at the French ports.
Currently, no further information about David’s life, or his military career, is available.
