At Hall of Clestain in Orphir (Orkney), Mary Linklater Wishart is born. She is the daughter of a farmer named John Wishart and Jane Flett. Mary is part of Wishart Tree 082.

Privates 2450 J Wishart and 7397 G Wishart along with the 1st Black Watch relieve the 1st Codstreams, 1st Camerons and London Scottish in the trenches at Givenchy during the evening. One man is wounded.
During the night four casualties are reported amongst two different companies of the 5th Battalion, Royal Highlanders (Black Watch.) 1995 Pte. Albert Wishart is not among those wounded or killed.
