Enlisting today in Corsalta Farm, Alberta, is a 22-year-old farmer from Falkland, Fife named James Wishart. Prior to the war, James had served two years with the 7th Battalion Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) in Scotland, and after attestation in Canada, joined the 175th (Medicine Hat) Battalion CEF, a local unit that had begun recruiting during the winter of 1915/16. James left Canada for England in October 1916 and embarked for France the following February. He would only survive several months at the front before being killed in action.
