At ten minutes to three o’clock in the afternoon a jeweller’s salesman named James and his wife Christina Wishart (née Barrowman) become parents to a baby girl. Joyce Barrowman Wishart was born at 3 The Grove in Giffnock, never married and died in Suffolk on 7 April 1991. The same day in Newcastle, a 17-year-old apprentice fitter named Stanley Wishart enlists in the military and is sent into the army reserve. He is eventually mobilised for service in June 1918 and assigned to the 4th (Reserve) Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment however the war ends before he can be posted overseas.
