43786 Cpl. John Wishart of the 33rd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery embarks in Southampton for Le Havre on board the SS Winifridian. He is the 14th Wishart to arrive in France.
At 12:30 p.m. in Le Havre the 9th Battalion Highland Light Infantry (including Pte. Andrew Brock Wishart) entrain for St. Omer – a distance of about 70 miles. The journey is both long and arduous with the train rumbling across the French countryside throughout night. Meanwhile the two Wishart brothers (William Andrew and Robert of the Liverpool Scottish) remain in billets at Blendecques, and a slightly less noisy day greets Pte. Henry Gray Wishart in the trenches at Neuve Chapelle, with only five casualties recorded in the battalion war diary.
