At the recruiting station in New York, a 26-year-old farmer from Setauket named David Leslie Wishart joins the US Navy and is sent to Section Base No.6 in Brooklyn, where he becomes a machinist’s mate (2nd class.) David served for 160 days (until the Armistice) after which he went to live in New Haven, Connecticut, where he was employed as a toolmaker in a munition factory. In 1926 he married Thelma Brush back in his hometown, with one daughter born of the union. David died in New York during 1975 and is part of tree WIS0072.
