In Liverpool a 57-year-old former detective named Alexander Wishart from Edge Hill visits the recruiting office and re-enlists with the military. Alexander had previously served with the Royal Artillery in the Anglo-Egyptian war of 1882 and upon embodiment for service was assigned the rank of private in the 5th King’s Liverpool Regiment (rising to sergeant five days later.) Alexander spent the war serving on the home front.
Privates 3/4067 Robert Wishart, 7397 George Wishart and 2338 Andrew Wishart of the 1st Black Watch spend the day field training in Burbure. A warm spring day greets 6391 Pte.
