Killed when a shell landed on a French house he was billeted in is 290656 L/Sgt. James Wishart of the 7th Battalion Black Watch (Royal Highlanders.) The previous autumn James was awarded the Military Medal for devotion to duty and conspicuous gallantry in the field. An obituary published in the Kirkcaldy Times recalled that this was for carrying ammunition whilst under heavy enemy fire. He was wounded shortly afterwards but quickly rejoined the line and had been promoted to Lance Sergeant earlier in 1917. He is part of tree WIS0056 and the youngest of seven children born to David Wishart and his wife Mary Berry.
