France

During the morning Pte. Henry Gray Wishart marches with the 1st Seaforth Highlanders from Vieille Chapelle to Richebourg St. Vaast – a distance of about three miles. At 4 p.m. the battalion were heavily shelled and to avoid any further casualties, were scattered and eventually billeted after dark to the west of the town. At midnight Henry got his first taste of trench life when his unit took over the trenches along the Estaires-La Bassée road near Pont Logy. All four companies were positioned in the firing line.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
