In Lethbridge, Alberta, a 20-year-old clerk from Auchnacarry in Perthshire named William Foreman Wishart is conscripted into the Canadian Army. William is initially sent for training with the 1st Depot Battalion, Alberta Regiment, and eventually taken on strength of the 31st Battalion (Alberta) C.E.F with who he would eventually see overseas service. After he returned to Canada in 1919 William married Hazel Perry and two children, a son and daughter, were born of the marriage. William died in Alberta on 2 June 1966.
