At the Manse in Newton, Midlothian, 39-year-old widowed colliery engiineman, Thomas Wishart marries 20-year-old domestic servant, Christina Stoddart. At the time of the wedding Thomas had been living at Donaldson’s Close in Dalkeith, and was the son of a railway lorry man named Thomas Wishart and his wife Janet Semple. Christina had been resident at 16 Glenorchy Terrace in Edinburgh and was the daughter of a coal miner named George who was serving in the Royal Engineers. Witnesses to the marriage were Agnes Leishman Clark & James Brockton.
