2555 Sgt. Matthew Wishart, 5th Royal Scots becomes the first Wishart tho arrive on the Gallipoli peninsula and also has the unhappy distinction of being the first to lose his life just three days later. Matthew’s son William Graham Wishart was killed earlier in the month. Both men form part of Wishart Tree 0035.
1299 Pte. Alexander Wishart 1st/7th Btn. Princess Louise’s (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) is killed in action at the Battle of St. Julien, an engagement that formed part of the Second Battle of Ypres.
