Killed in action at the Somme is 740 Cpl. Norman McLeod Wishart of the 4th Division Australian Army Ordnance Corps. Norman is notable for being the first Australian Wishart to enlist after the outbreak of war in August 1914 and had served overseas in Gallipoli and then the Western Front for 3.5 years when he died. He was the eighth of nine children and four of his brothers were also in uniform during WW1, however, they all survived the war. The family are part of tree WIS0013 which begins in Paisley around 1600.
