At 19 Howard Street in the Blythswood district of Glasgow, 33-year-old engine fitter Robert Wishart marries a munitions worker from Rutherglen named Mary Snow (26.) Robert is the son of a a mason named David Wishart and his wife, Margaret Donaldson (née Cooper) while Mary is the daughter of James and Mary Snow. Robert was previously married to Mary Gibson and had one son at the time of his second marriage. The family are part of tree WIS0098.
The same day, in the same city, George Wishart (WIS0105) from Forfar enlists in the Royal Marine Artillery. He is 17 years old and will see home service for the remainder of the war.
