Enlisting in Leith today is a 22-year-old tile firer named Thomas Wishart. Thomas was born in the district and was living at 117 Lochend Road at the time of enlisting. Entering the army reserve, Thomas was eventually called up for active service on 13 May 1916 and sent for training with the Cameron Highlanders. He survived the war and died in 1950.
