In Victoria, British Columbia, Edward John Wishart is born. He is the son of Edward Wishart and Mary Sim Rothnie and part of Wishart Tree 076.

12056 L/Cpl Robert Alexander Wishart of the 1st Battalion, Highland Light Infantry leaves billets in Auchel and marches with the battalion to Riez-du-Vinage, a distance of about fourteen miles, where on arrival, they go into billets.

Meanwhile in Béthune, privates 3/4067 Robert Wishart and 7397 George Wishart of the 1st Black Watch are put on readiness to move out at fifteen minutes notice. During the day 2338 Pte. Andrew Wishart arrives with 37 other ranks, and joins the battalion pipers.

677 Pte. Henry Gray Wishart, 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders starts his month in the trenches at Rue de Bois but is relieved with his unit at 8:15 p.m. by the 1st/9th Gurkha Rifles and marches to billets on the outskirts of Richebourg St. Vaast. The battalion is now part of brigade support.

1995 Pte. Albert Wishart, 1st/5th Battalion Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) is based in the line near Neuve Chapelle. In Armentières two companies of the 1st/7th Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders  (including 1299 Pte. Alexander Wishart) are based in the trenches for a 48 hour period whilst the remains two are engaged in training.

6391 Pte. John Wishart, 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) spends his first full day in billets at Merville and may have been part of ‘B’ Squadron who move to fresh billets in Le Sart during the day.

The 9th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry remain in billets at Gorre with working parties detailed during the night for building breastworks in front of the battalion position, which is southeast of Festubert. It seems probable that 2413 Pte. Andrew Brock Wishart is involved in such work.

Based on his service number and subsequent unit, it seems very likely that 10689 L/Cpl J Wishart of the 1st Battalion, Royal Scots has succumbed to frost bite and is now somewhere in hospital in France awaiting transfer back to the United Kingdom.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
